Beginners Skate a Big Success
Members of the University of Iowa Hockey team led two free hockey clinics yesterday
at Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville, IA. The Hawkeyes worked with youngsters on basic
skating and hockey skills as part of an event set up by Coral Ridge Ice Arena to raise
awareness about youth hockey in the Iowa City area. The clinics were a huge
success as enrollment far surpassed expectations.

Over two hundred children, some more experienced than others, showed up to have
fun and skate with the Hawkeyes. Team captains Mike Coleman and Casey Delzell
were on hand along with team members JP Cadorin, Jamie Elliot, Joe Fruin, Keith
High, Rees O'Donnell, and goalie Tim Strauch. The IceHawks ran two 45 minute
sessions of 100 skaters that went extremely well and were a lot of fun. The Hawks
spent time before and after the sessions passing out pictures and signing as many
autographs as they could.

The Hawks look forward to participating in more events like this in the future. To see
